Could i fix different forks to this bike for touring?

Some of you may be aware that i LOVE lurking on this particular forum.

Have just sorted rear rack and panniers to my work bike (just for commuting love, no i am definitely not planning to go cycle touring......as if!)

So could i change the carbon forks for steel ones that would take front panniers? (and how much would such things be?)

I changed the Rock Shox supplied with my Genesis io id for these and they work very well. Cost £160 and come in different colours.

1 1/8" Cr-Mo touring forks, lowrider bosses £30
They will want 57mm dual pivots, so you'll have to swap the front brake if you don't already use them. There's also a 1" version for an extra £10, if that's what you need.
