Could 'The Tile' be the neatest way to get back your stolen bike?

The Tile is a tiny little thing that could easily be hidden on a bike. If someone perp nicks your bike you use the app to declare it as missing and all Tile users automatically keep an eye out for it!

What's to stop a thief using the app to locate lost tiles? I mean, thief nicks a bike, owner puts a warning out, thief gets to hear a ring telling him where the tile is hidden on the bike.

Where would you hide the tile so you could get at it to replace it but so it couldn't be seen, and as said above about what's to stop someone just removing it when it beeps.

I think each tile has a unique signal that only the owner can track. If a stolen tile passes past someone using the tile app it silently reports back to the owner of the tile.

Perhaps it only sounds when the searcher is ''hot'' and therefore able to locate it quickly.
