That is one interpretation of what very-near said. It's not what I read it as though.

If she ran a red light she broke the law and as a driver she is supposed to be able to cope with unfamiliar roads. Supposing she had knocked you off your bike or hit your car - how would you be reporting this incident now?

Agreed though, the PC does sound a bit of a pilllock.

Perhaps my sympathy levels are a bit low at present. But, she jumped a red light and was done for it. No real issue. The rest of the story is simply a story.

I was referring to the whole population of motorists. Making a statement about a group as a whole is not the same as making a statement about any individual within that group, so I am at a loss as to where the implication in your second sentence came from.
