Having enjoyed the ABC villages challenge I've moved onto counties. I can't see a similar thread, so anyone else is welcome to join in, if they're daft enough. No rules in particular, just post a picture showing where you've been. I'm definitely not doing them in alphabetical order, or all of them for that matter

Managed 4 yesterday in 32 miles. I do have a bit of an unfair advantage being based very centrally ;)

Extra geek points  available for most places starting with the same letter passed through in a row. I managed five - Brinklow, Binley, Binley Woods, Brandon, Bretford.

Tripoint at Dow Bridge, where the A5 used to cross the river Avon. Photo is taken from Warwickshire, Northamptonshire is to the right of the river and Leicestershire to the left, beyond the old bridge.

I did five historical counties in a 65 mile ride a few years back; six if you allow newer unitary authority boundaries (because Milton Keynes isn't considered part of Buckinghamshire officially any more) and took photos of the county signs at each boundary crossing. The exception was Oxfordshire who apparently don't put up signs at borders unless they are on major roads, so I had to cross that one multiple times until I finally found a sign.

Link to the ride on Strava (which includes the photos): https://www.strava.com/activities/390567391

Fairly regularly cycle through No Man's Heath which has a pub ( now Indian restaurant) named Four counties Inn as it's near the boarders of Leicestershire , Warwickshire , Staffordshire and Derbyshire you can be in all 4 counties within a 2 mile radius . Apparently there is a marker stone where the counties used to meet before line were redrawn slightly

That one's already on my list when I venture a bit further ^_^

Do South, North, West and East Yorkshire count, I can take in these four easily on any ride from home, but they are all still Yorkshire.
I can take in North Yorkshire by riding South or North.

Yes I'd have thought so, they're in the Tripoint link in my original post :okay:

We don't officially have counties in Wales any more, it is all Unitary Authorities.

There are four of those I hit fairly regularly on my bike - Vale of Glamorgan (where I live), Rhondda Cynon Taf (2 miles North of me), Cardiff (where I work), and Bridgend (5 or 6 miles W of me)

The tripoint of Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Wiltshire.
The Fosse Way that I was riding along occasionally formed the border between Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

The Fox House Inn, South Yorkshire, THE NORTH. Derbyshire, Midlands was about 20 ft away from my seat!

The Highlands is a a bit of a final boss county, as it was still 200 miles to John O'Groats!
