Notes from todays commute, no great major point. Just possible conversation starters?
Right, I've been away for a week, no commute just swimming with seals off the Caister coast :-) Till I ran through the sand dunes and got a blade of grass speared in my eye. Not known much pain like it and ended up with a 'Unfit to drive' letter from the hospital doc. last Thursday.
So I set myself up for todays commute. Head out of the door and after 200yards realise I've forgotten my glasses. I ALWAYS wear shades of some description when cycling. Stems from the incident when I started back cycling and someone threw an egg at me. Just went under my chin and hit my shoulder, but I always think "what if?"
I've headed back for them before now and with the eye injury last week I would have thought I'd have done so today, but I didn't. My ride wasn't impaired by not having them either. Anyone else think they might be insisting on having something along mainly by habit?
The other thing I noted was a change in the way I'm handling RABs and some junctions. At all RABs on the route I use the same exit, second, straight on. They're all 4 junction, 2 lane entry/exit. I've been approaching RABs in the centre of the lane, but I've found I still get the occasional <insert own term> who insists on trying to be in front. Even when I'm doing regular prolonged lifesavers. Today I noted that my primary position on these has changed. I'm not centre of the lane, but closer to the position of other traffics offside tyre.
