I ordered a laptop, from a third party, through Amazon, on Saturday. Great. Shipped on Monday, brillant.

Couriered by City Link... Oh, crap.

They failed to deliver on Weds, apparently I was 'not known/gone away' at the office - I gave the Velo Vision address, which is in a business centre with a staffed reception, and I gave my name, and the business name - it's always worked fine before. And I was actually in the office all day on Weds.

According to the City Link website, the goods were then sucessfully delivered yesterday at midday, but Pete had checked the post at 3.30, and there was nothing (I'm only there one day a week, but he's there every day). Odd. Surely it's not been nicked from the reception? Possible, but unlikely.

Even more oddly, the website then says that the goods are in City Link's system, and on a van to be delivered today. Eh?

Now, I know City Link are rubbish. Sh1tty LInk, more like. If I'd known the company used them, I would have thought twice about ordering from them. My question is, what are my rights? If City Link don't deliver, and it goes back to the supplier, can I demand delivery by Royal Mail? (At the very least, I can get to the sorting office - City Link's depot is an hours drive away, and I don't have a car). If the company insist on City Link, can I cancel the order on those grounds? I don't want to mess about with City Link for ever.

Annoyingly, I did bother to look at the feedback on this company, and it was pretty positive. Other people must have more luck with City Link than me.

Delivery to home isn't an option, as I'm at work all day, and anyway, they've failed to find my flat before (and claimed to have left cards, when they never did). I could choose my other workplace, but if they can't find the York Eco Business Centre, what hope of finding St Nicks?

I've had the same problem with citylink recently. Although you can book a day for a second delivery its no good for me as we are out 8-6 during the week.

Unfortunately Wiggle seem to have switched to citylink which means I won't be able to use them any longer. Wiggle did refund my order as soon as the package was returned to them and your supplier should do as well

I had a Laptop allegedly delivered to my address (ON an 8am-1pm slot.) So rang the courier who spoke to the driver. He arrived with the laptop 20 minutes later with a story of 'carding my house number in the next street, by accident!' I know the people who live their and they got no card. A good scam if he'd got away with it.

You can always have it sent back to the supplier and tell them you want your money back under the Distance Selling Regulations you have 7 days to change your mind and they have to refund you.

I have had a lot of problems with city link I once got told that they had tried to deliver but I wasnt in (which I was) but when they asked the driver to describe my front door his description was wrong so he hadnt even been to my house.

Mind you DPD can beat that, I placed and order in early december and it took them until after xmas to try to deliver it and I took great pleasure in refusing the delivery

Actually on further investigation it turns out Citylink did try to deliver Arch's parcel and it was turned away - reception didn't recognise her name (which it was addressed to), and although the company name (which they would have recognised) should have been on the parcel too it clearly didn't get noticed...

So not really Citylink's fault in this case. With a bit of luck it should be sorted soon.

Hmmm. I still wonder why anyone failed to notice the businss name when the first line of the address, as entered on Amazon and quoted in the company emails to me, was "S Archer, c/o Velo Vision"....

Or indeed, why the city link website this morning said that it was successfully delivered yesterday lunchtime, and yet loaded onto a van today for redelivery...

If it's not their fault, then I retract. But their reputation is not exactly shining...

Still, all this extra anticipation, waiting for my thing! It's like waiting for Christmas.

8mile - it was a parcel from Wiggle that City Link failed to get to me before - they claimed to have left a card (this was at my flat address) two days running. Now, unless one of my 4 neighbours in the building has a penchant for stealing City Link cards off the post table, that was not true....
