This one came into Enviroability as part of a collection of five elderly bikes. I'm not sure what to do with this: the rust on the chain stay is pretty bad and the whole bike is suffering from neglect, but it took no more than pumping up the badly perished tyres to get it rideable. The guy who donated it - mid 50s, maybe even early 60s - said he'd paid £40 for it so he could do his paper round on it when he was a kid. The bottom line is that it's not worth putting much money or time into, but I can't quite bring myself to chuck it in a skip after it's survived all these years. And I just love that head badge! What to do?

Sadly, this has absolutely had it. The chain stays are rusted beyond redemption, all the bearings are worn out and basically, it's furked. Shame, but there it is. Here's a pic of the remains of the dealer sticker, it originally came from Sawyer's Cycles in Chippenham for anyone local who might remember them.

With what looks like pinholes ion the L/H chainstay, unless you know a skilled welder the bike is unsafe to ride which is a real shame as the Coventry Cycle Coy. had a good history.

Yeah, I was quite sad about this one. But I gave the rear triangle and experimental flex by gently pulling the dropouts apart and there was no 'spring' at all in the chain stays.

Annoyingly, I can't even save this rather nice stem, which has welded itself into the steerer tube.

Ammonia is said to be good for freeing aluminium that's bonded itself to steel.
