Despite taking a lengthy statement from me, having me complete all kinds of documents, burning a DVD, etc - the CPS today dropped the case against this motorist, because apparently the number plate isn't legible. I was due to go to court this Monday.

Never mind that I read the number plate aloud while on the bike, never mind that actually, it's perfectly visible. Never mind the fact that I don't have access to a police computer or a mind reading device. What a colossal waste of money.

Still, at least the driver will have been crapping his pants for a year, so there's always that. He probably won't do it again.

I must be missing something here... what is the driver supposed to have done wrong? Amazing that the CPS only decided so late on this - it's clear from the first viewing that the number plate is illegible, what a waste of time them dragging it out!

Trials cost money, public money, and use up police and court time. Under the circumstances I'm surprised they didn't tell you to stop wasting police time.

Can't really see much wrong either. I suppose technically you should sit there till the lights stop flashing but the barriers wouldn't have went up if there was another train coming.

Much ado about very little????

Why on earth would you waste your time with this? It's like the boy who cried Cookie Monster. The next time you actually have something to complain about they will do a half-assed job

Funny that I can see the rego quite clearly when you wait behind him. It's just an excuse, they can't be bothered.

Got to be honest, I was waiting for a shocking incident which never came.

He was a bit of an impatient arse, but I wouldn't have grassed him up to the police.

Interesting responses that demonstrate just how little some people here know of road safety. If you guys think it's fine to ignore a red light, on a level crossing of all places, then I despair. One of the most dangerously selfish things any road user can ever do and according to some people here, it's fine.

It isn't fine. I just don't think it's as serious as you do. The train had gone and the barrier was on it's way up. He was an impatient prat, but I'd just shake my head and move on.

I dissagree with you but each to their own. Id also like to say as a road user both cycling and veichle how annoying front flashing led lights are. Again just my own opinion.
