A quiet word in the drivers ear from traffic police would have been an appropriate response here.

Waste of time. Twotties dumb enought o do that rarely take positive notice of a quiet word in the shell-like. It's a waste of an officers time.

If there's offences, try and prosecute for it. If there's insufficient evidence then note it as intelligence for a rainy day cos you never know when it'll be useful.

But as for sending police officers for a quiet chat... a lot of Forces don't have enough warm bodies to deal with serious crimes, never mind utilising resources wagging fingers at people.

Interesting the amount of abuse I've received for this. I didn't waste anyone's time, I reported someone driving like a dickhead to the British Transport Police, they considered it serious enough to prosecute, not me.

By the way, I pay taxes too. I'm perfectly happy to see them used to prosecute for things like this. Perhaps that's something you'll care to think about when a driver such as this wipes you out at a junction.

Perhaps I've missed something but it seemed a bit odd to complain on here about the general driving standards, speed, close pass etc which might have endangered the cyclist but not to report that to the local constabulary, yet a report was made to the Transport police regarding the alleged offence at the rail crossing which did not endanger the cyclist.
