CPS didn't entertain it they kicked it out of court. The driver would have been reported for the offence and summonsed . CPS wouldnt have made a charging decision to get it to court like they do on criminal offences Such as theft/danage etc . I'm surprised the BTP entertained it ! I agree with others, the flashing front light concerns me more !

Why what's wrong with the front light?

For my own safety I like to see a pool of light on the road ahead in order to avoid debris and potholes, but there is no light showing on the video, the cyclist appears to be in total darkness for the first 20 seconds. As I said in my earlier post, it may just be a feature of video cams that they give a false impression of levels of light and dark, but no one has enlightened me. (sorry, no pun intended)

The light reflection is flashing on the brake cables. I dont think there is anything wrong with led's i know legally they are allowed i just dont like them. I dont think they give enough light in front of you and as a vehicle user i hate having them coming towards me they are very off putting

In the past I have seen many times the barriers start to go up and before they have finished they suddenly start going down again.
That is why the lights keep flashing red until the barriers have completely finished going up and why you MUST wait until the lights stop flashing.

True, if it's one of the lines going to Manchester Piccadilly, then the trains will be pretty frequent. On the line going from Man Pic to Stockport, there seems to be one a minute in the morning, from little local trains to 120mph Pendelinos. What if the barriers had come back down, trapping the car in the crossing? Potential consequences?
IMHO credit to the OP. He'd gone to the cops, reported something selfish. It's up to the cops to press charges not the OP. If the CPS decide not to take on the case at the 11th hour, that's how our justice system works, which is very frustrating! If the OP wanted to be a crusading helmet camera cyclist, he'd have made the video public long before now, but he hadn't.

TBH, the reason for dropping the case is utterly ridiculous. I've achieved successful convictions on motorists with no video evidence whatsever, just the evidence of my own eyes, so how a video with a contemporaneous commentary citing the offending VRM isn't considered good enough is a mystery to me.

Something not everyone may know. CPS prosecutors are usually pretty shoddy. After all, if they had any juice they'd be in private practice earning 5 times as much.

These guys are scored on the conviction rate of the jobs they send to court, and they are sheet scared of that conviction rate dropping and them getting in trouble. In essense these cases are being tried in private with a second rate lawyer acting as Judge. Only if it is likely to maintain their success rate does to then go on to be heard in a court.

It has nothing to do with justice, everything to do with stopping our creaking and archaic criminal justice system from collapsing at the seams.

It's the Manchester to Chester line. At best 2 an hour (one an hour each way) in the day and even less frequent evenings & weekends.
