Hi there, I'm just wondering how safe these cracks are? I've done some searching already online and I seem to get different results.

Back wheel, aluminum fulcrum racing 5 wheel, road bike which is 4-5yrs old, wheel has done over 10,000miles I would say. Wheel is for commuting. I weight 84kg. There are maybe 4-5 of these cracks around the wheel.

I have not taken my own pics, but the cracks are very similar to these ones:

How much does it cost to Oldham?
No.

Similar cracks appeared on the back wheel of my Trek bike shortly after I bought it (new). The bike has since done 12,000 miles and the cracks have got no worse. I also weigh 84Kg on a good day:smile:.
It doesn't look good, but I can't see the cracks when cycling and just forget about them:whistle:.

lol at Snorri, yes out of sight out of mind. You see the dilemma though. Some say yes, some say no. I could just use it as a winter turbo-trainer wheel, but would like to squeeze as much out of them as possible. Although, dont want to hit a hole and the wheel collapse under me

Given its the rear its not quite as urgent but its still a right of IMHO, besides 10,000miles wasn't bad for a commuting wheel.

Had a tour and lots of training rides included in that. I have some new wheels, so I guess better safe then sorry? Cheers guys. Safe riding
