..........but at least I'm back on my bike. I had my first ride for 20 months this afternoon. Only 16 miles (I've no idea how long it took or how fast I wasn't, because the computer's battery is flat, of course).

Hell, I've missed it.

I've been building our house, working 7 days a week for over a year, so I've stayed reasonably fit, but there is nothing about working on a building site which prepares you for the last big hill on the way home. I've not been able to ride because most of our possessions are still in storage, including the bikes. From 5,000 miles a year down to zero. It's a long way back from there.

Thanks folks. Yeah, it's nice top be sort-of back, although I won't be properly back as a cyclist until I'm regularly doing 50 milers, and I don't notice hills.

Try eating bananas, the potassium in them should help you avoiding cramps..........:cuppa:

I'm allergic to them, I'm afraid. The cramp wasn't bad, and I've always found that building up the muscle strength and endurance reduces cramp. I don't think there are any short-cuts.

You moved house and put your bikes in storage? Blimey. We went into temporary accommodation for 3 weeks and one bedroom in the flat was dedicated to the bikes, no way would we allow them out of our sight.

Storage is on site. We have a shipping container with most of our possessions in it. Getting stuff in and out is virtually impossible as it is jam packed.

Just take the skin off and shove one down the back of your shorts..........that will help with the sore backside
