Crank brothers shoe shields

I bought a set of Lake M177 spd shoes and I want to buy shoe shields to protect the fibre glass portion of the sole from being chewed up by underside of shimano spd cleats, what would you put on the shoe shields to hold them in position when installing the cleats ?

Dunno... IIRC I just nipped the bolts up to give enough friction for them to be snug but still moveable before final tightening.

Word of warning - on my Shimano XC shoes (I forget the name) they make the cleats stand proud so can be pretty hairy on smooth surfaces (much as you'd expect a normal SPD to behave).
