Crank in wrong

I am looking at a part bike that had the crank pedals in the wrong way but have now been corrected. That is to say the cogs were on the left hand side of the bike when you sit on it. My question is would this have caused any damage. I am thinking along the lines of like when you try to put a pedal on the wrong arm or wrong way. The bike is a Btwin Triban 500. Thanks.

Assuming they hadn't also fitted a chain and then tried to ride it , all should be good .

It wouldn’t have been possible to pedal this way I think, as the wheel would be backwards…. (I think).

Haha, the chain is one of the parts it does not have.

Actually if it’s rim brake and you put the wheel in backwards and then fitted the crankset on the left it would work wouldn’t it if you could find a way to flip the freehub pawls if you didn’t want to permanently go backwards?

No. Are there bikes like that I wonder.

US track team have some bikes like this. The chainset is on the inside on the track so there's less drag overall. That's the theory anyway.
