Bad accident on the way home on Wednesday evening. Another cyclist took me down. It turned out she had only been cycling for 2 weeks.
In nearly 30 years of riding I have never unseated another cyclist.
I am left with bad bruising all down my left hand side with possibly a couple of cracked ribs. :B)
I was absolutely furious with the other cyclist and lectured her on the merits of safe riding, in particular not cutting corners so extremely so she ends up skimming the gutter on the wrong side of the road and wedging herself in between the kerbside and me as I am exiting the junction.
I'm left with very bad bruising all down my left side, arm and leg and possibly a couple of cracked ribs.
I have her details, she said she would pay for any repairs to my bike.
Sorry to say this but I think the incident may have put her off for life, particularly when I told her if she carries on riding like that she will soon become a statistic and her newly purchased crash helmet won't save her. :banghead:

Unfortunately it is not just inexperienced riders who ride with no regard for anyone else and with no thought of any negative consequences.
Hope she pays up and your injuries clear up fast.

Nasty GWS and all that.
Shows how its not just drivers who can be ***ks and also an example to those who try an argue a badly ridden bike doesn't cause serious injury to third parties (If I had those injuries I'd think they were pretty serious)

She was on the wrong side of the road against the gutter as you were coming round?

Good christ, has she not seen that we drive on the left?

Hope you and the bike are OK though.

Ouch, hope you heal up quickly and are soon back in the saddle. Perhaps it is a good thing if it puts her off cycling, I think some people just aren't made for it. If she carries on cycling here's to hoping she at least learnt a valuable lesson and will take more care in the future. Sometimes people just need to learn the hardway (it's just a shame that they have to "take down" other people first).

This is why you should have 3rd party insurance. But then those cyclists who do are probably the cautious riders who aren't going to need it anyway as they aren't going to ride in a manner that causes injury or damage to some one else or their property. The very people who should have it are the numptees such as the one that crashed into the OP, but they never do, that is why they are ignorant selfish numptees.

Is your bike ok? Hope you GWS. The numptee might well say she will pay for any damage, but saying is one thing, actually getting money out of her will be totally different. She would unlikely be able to pay any PI claim you brought against her unless she is insured for 3rd party claims. Did you go to your hospital or GP?

On monday night I was driving home on the A141 a long straight and unlit A road. Ahead I could see a car's headlights approaching, no big deal but then what appeared to be lights from a scooter/motorbike as there only appeared one very bright light over taking on my side of the road, but taking for ever. It wasn't until the light and car were very close that I swerved to avoid a f*****g numptee on a bike cycling toward me along the nearside, ie on totally the WRONG SIDE of the road meaning I had to swerve around the fecking idiot cyclist narrowly missing the on coming car which was now passing mine. A total loon cyclist.

And then the next night I hadn't even started the drive home, but was still on the GBW to St Ives between Oakington and Over when out of the darkness at about 10:45pm on my side of the GBW ie on the WRONG SIDE, a numptee cyclist appears, no lights, weaving all over the place, God knows how I didn't collide with him as I was riding at about 24-25mph. All I had time to was shout "Oiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!! Fu....." and he was gone with expletives being shouted back at me, at me, the cheeky canute.

So yes there are lots of numptee idiots on bikes. Not a day goes by without at least a couple of them attempting to take me down because of their inconsiderate, ignorant and dangerous cycling. That's Cambridge cyclists for you.

Whenever I come behind a cyclist riding in the gutter or what I would call too close to the kerb, I always make sure I give them a little protection if I know I am not going to overtake them. However, they always end up jumping the red light that I stop at.

And possibly a concussion? :B)
