These folk are it all types of vintage railways and I know my friend Neil and said chairman went off somewhere Teasdale ? to see a vintage electric engine.

The NER and then LNER (1923 - 48) were actually quite innovative in the North East when most of the country still doggedly stuck to steam, so there are several preserved examples of things down there.

Actually, certain other parts of the north of England were too.

So I wonder if contacting a few of these vintage railways to see if someone is in the know.

Cravens did not build a great variety of modern things, so it's relatively easy to track down people.

Has the answer been delayed due to leaves on the Internet?

Actually, it's more a case of 'Leaves in my head'.

I asked this and have got my way of finding an answer (the BNA at the Library), but if you have seen the Mental Health thread, you'll see I am having problems.

I have not even been able to leave my bed yet. 😏

This article and others are viewable on Findmypast, at no extra cost to their family history stuff. I can't paste them here because of copyright issues but if you know of anyone with a subscription, they could be useful to know.

Just did a quick search there and there seems to be interesting stuff but it seems you need a paid a/c

Just got in at the end of the day and got the BNA thing set up.

That snippet looks intriguing and indeen gives a date (presumably Friday the 9th of December 1966), but, all it says is:

I was hoping it was perhaps indicating something about the incomplete units being moved to Brum or a possible date for them vacating the site.
Oh well, back again tomorrow or another day for a proper search.

Thanks all!
