"Server going down next Wednesday for hard drive upgrade
Hi all,
I will have to take the server down next wednesday (December 19th 2012), in order to upgrade the hard drives. We have been having some issues with hard drive errors lately, and since the server has been running with the current drives since late 2008, it makes sense that this would be starting to happen (hard drives are mechanical devices, they wear out, and our server is running 24/7). Also, we are at over 70% capacity on the current drives, which isn't optimal - when drives start to get much over 50-60% capacity, the system gets less efficient at allocating space for files. So, I have purchased a set of larger drives, which will give us two benefits: Fix this issue with the old, failing hard drives, and also give us more breathing space for future growth."
