Its not chain rub , i have eliminated that !
When it the top or smallest third of the cassette i can hear a creak/ noise , at first i thought it was chain rub but i have checked the bike under load and on the stand and the front mech is not touching the chain.

How tight is the lockring? I had a rattling noise in the top couple gears before and it was because the lockring was not on tight enough.

Are the larger sprockets on a spider with the smaller ones loose? I would make sure they're properly seated and then snug up your lockring.

Looks like its the BB , some play in it so im guessing under higher torque when using fast gears is putting extra twisting load on worn bearings, its hollowtech external BB

Commuter bike is in the shop atm too , tried replacing the brake inners and could i get the cable back in the hole in the shifters, could i feck .Its one of those fiddly jobs we can all do but sometimes stump us.
So how far would you ride a bike with a worn BB ? Club run Sunday and if its no good and the commuter is not back its a bust .

As long as it's not falling to bits a bit of play won't hurt.

Not likely but have you a pie plate fitted ?
Had a similar issue although not related to specific gears, turned out the spome protector was rubbing against the spokes at times. Took me aaages to track it down.

When Hollowtechs develop play and groan they tend to be completed FUBARED. I have in the past tried re lube and adjustments and convinced myself that the problem was fixed.....and it always was for about 5 miles.
I wouldn't run many miles on shot Hollowtechs because the nice light hollow axle can be easily ruined.
