Apologies guys, this will sound amatureish and will do my best to explain and hopefully some will know my problem! Anyway, i have a giant FCR 2 '09 model and its developed a creaking from the handlebar stem, if you balance the bike on back wheel and turn the bars slowly or fast it creaks, it also does it when on the ground, i've checked its not any cable rub or anything and sounds internal. The bike hasnt done 1000 miles
Any ideas?

Cheers

Could be that a bit of moisture has gotten into the headset and washed away some of the grease if you are 100% it is not cable rub.

If you are unsure what to do - see this video

Agree with pete sounds like headset is running short on grease, if your not enthusiastic about stripping it down and putting it back together, just slacking it off and squeeze some grease into the bearings through the gap. Tighten everything back up and see what happens. Should quieten down.

Another culprit can be the cable stops and a drop of oil seems to cure that one, But I'd go with Pete on this one.
