My attitude is that no bike should creak or click; a noise indicates something moving in a way it wasn't designed to move and the only reasons for that can be wear or something broken or loose. Regular inspection and maintenance means spotting worn parts and replacing them in good time especially if they're safety related.

A design fault can also produce creaking noises - the bar/stem interface on my mountain bike creaks if you pull up on the bars and that's because the stem is titanium, not really the best material for a stem as it flexes too easily.

Can't stand creaks/noises.

One of the joys of cycling is the harmony between the rider and his machine. The whir of the chain or the gentle hum of the tyres.

Squeaks and clicks are the pesky kids who come into your room and jump into your bed when you and the Mrs are getting into the mood.
