I think I prefer that, as (for me) the colours detract from the textures & shapes, which are the interesting things. Still not sure it quite works as a composition, but it could be a nice idea to try some variations on with angles, depth of field, different barks, etc.
Could definitely have done with a tad more depth of field.
Woodland photography really ins't my thing, I find it to be the hardest but that's where my wife often wants to go for a walk, so... 😉
