Quite pleased with this one... it can be a challenge to get a good composition of grapes on the vine, as they tend to hang down low without much going on in the frame. As I was riding along, I suddenly thought of this spot as being a potential view-in-the-background possibility. Mind you, my pose wasn't terribly dignified, sitting down on the soil, rather scrunched up, to get just the right angle on a nicely formed bunch of grapes...

Classic foreground, middleground and background, nice composition.

A proper photographer friend of mine said the mistake most people make is to look at a 'subject' in the photo rather than shapes - the latter being exactly what I did for this one. OK, it's not going to win any prizes for originality (my French viewers seem just to like pretty pictures of places they recognise), but I was (for a change) conscientiously looking at the shapes of the vines and the mountains in the background once I'd got the grapes where I wanted them in the frame - I like the perspective of the vines going down the hill and then the outline of the mountain and the tapestry of burnt trees of different varieties on it.

I wish I could get shots of rain I really like... I think it really needs puddles and moody lighting, but this one will remind me of this afternoon's tropical rain... it was 35C, I was standing in full-on sunshine, with the shutter set at 1/1600s to try and freeze the sunlit rain (as it were) into droplets. 90 degrees to the right it was blue sky.
