Cree XM-L T6 1300 lumens claimed

I know there are a few threads on this currently but I think I prefer this one due to not having to have an additional battery pack.

My question is about the life of these batteries in comparison to the others with separate batteries.

I usually ride for about 1 1/2 hours, up to 3 maximum, would these batteries last?
Are they the same as AA's? If so I could just carry some spares
Are they as bright? In theory they should be eh?

they are not the same as AA battery's, need a bit more taken care off and charged properly. Now these torches are bright when run off one of these 18650 batteries, run time on max will be upto an hour maybe 2 depending on the driver used. BTW those mounts fit OS bars however not with the supplied screw and nut. I used cable ties on mine with rubber straps to keep everything tight.

do you have any spare batteries? if so what did you buy, the charge time may not be enough for me so would need 2 lots of batteries, if this isnt feasible ill have to go for the one with the separate battery pack

run time was based on maximum brightness! However a pair of these on medium is plenty to ride by? Should get 2-3hrs out of it. I might have some spares, how many you looking for? If you are not going to run two torches I would go for the all bikelight with battery pack.

xml t6s are rated at just over 1000 lumen according to the cree tech docs, still plenty bright enough.

yeh they seem bright enough, just worried over battery life. I regularly do a 15 mile ride out, stop at my in laws for tea and cycle back, most of which is a dark trail, so id need it to be bright for at least this journey.

I guess one set of spare batteries would suffice, do they sell them separately?

yeah they'll last i have (had) 2 cree torches ran on 18650 used on my commutes so yeah plenty of life

look at big_f_d_d on ebay for batteries...though torcy is running low

My ultrafire battery & charger I bought off ebay was recalled due to trading standards "bringing a safety concern to the sellers attention" Battery was rated at 4000mAh, actual rating was around 500mAH.

Order fulfilled by amazon, so you can't go wrong. Very bright, much brighter than my T6 was. I also purchased 2 torchy 2400mAh batterys from big_f_d_d on ebay. Lasts for just over an hour on full power. Brackets are cheap enough on ebay, 99p from china, or a bit more from the UK. My charger was around £4 for a double charger from ebay, I did cut the 2 pin plug off & fit a UK fused plug for safety.

All the torch type cree lights I have tried have failed after awhile, they start to flicker when going over bumps or change mode completely. I have had this happen on about 6 of them now. Is this a common problem?

There are easy fixes for the issue of mode changes with these torches, one of them is to wrap tape round the battery which stops it rattling about (the cause of the mode change) . Also loose end caps etc. Rule seems to be strip torch down and tighten up, re-grease threads. Should give reliable service! My 502b torches I bought have been no bother whatsoever uptil now. Colin gives us a shout on a Tues if you want info.

I'll test it out tonight and see how i get on and if i need help ill give you a shout Chuffed with it so far though and miles brighter than my smart 35 lux ive been using

Yep I ended up getting a couple of longer bolts from work and making the holes slightly larger to accomodate.

My pair of XMLT6 came from Torchy and I have as yet to kill a battery with some nights on high for well over 1hr

Happened on my first one from ebay. So far the 2 I have bought from amazon have been fine, only time will tell. There was a thread I started before about this, where I've had some helpful advice on fixes, still not had time to try though.
