He came onto the county scene aged 19 at Somerset and then got an England call up a cope of year later as Leach was injured and then his career stalled at Somerset, as Leach was being prefered to him at Somerset. He then move to Yorkshire - on loan then permanent - and his career got back on track. he wasnt at his best last year with the ball, but as ever scored decent lower middle order runs. Its hard to assess current season form for spinners as any 4 day cricket was played early season on generally damper green pitches.
Dawson is a like for like if they want a left arm finger spinner, but hasn't played intl cricket for 6 years.
Off spinner wise, Moeen might be tempted back or Bess is probably next best but not really in form.
Not sure any of the wrist spinners Rehman, Parkinson (not sure he has played any red ball this season for Lancs) / other options give the control you would want with only 3 seamers plus a half fit stokes. Livingston is very left field choice, but whilst he has played a test before he never bowled. The boring choice is to play Woakes, but do we really need another "similar" RA Seamer. Curran at least adds some variety
