TBF it's not them I blame really, especially not Hartley being thrown in last minute. More the selectors putting heaps of pressure on them.

Baptism & fire come to mind. IIRC put a couple of them together and you'd still not get to 40 1st Class appearances...

I'm sure they'll be supported by the new team though.

Just a bit of perspective.
India have never lost a home test after securing a first innings lead over 100.
So England have an almost impossible task.

Don't think anyone gave us much of a hope, if any, after that first innings. Huge turnarounds from Hartley and Pope.

Here's hoping we carry that momentum into the next game.

Yes. One thing you can absolutely say about the current England side is that they just don't know when they are beaten.

Hartley got absolutely destroyed today. What a Test debut.

I hate to be pessimistic, but I can see us being walloped here, possibly by an innings.

Meh. I'm happy to be proved wrong.

It was still a shocking first innings by Hartley, but whatever support/advice was given to him clearly worked.

I like "No man steps in the same river twice."

Without Pope's heroics we'd have been nowhere near, and displays like that don't come along too often.

A great result against formidable odds, but there are still some pretty serious questions to be answered.
