Not the fireworks of bazball but absorbing to watch.
I wonder whether Bazball will evolve like they used to bring young fast bowlers on - by concentrating first on developing outright speed and only then working on accuracy bit by bit with application. Admittedly, India seemed to help England by running out of ideas pretty quickly but yesterday's play looked like England had the slightly mad attacking batting under their belt and were concentrating on the application side of things.

Whilst not Bazball, England still scored at >4 runs per over to end up with a massive lead on 1rst innings

In the first year of "baz" in charge, they scored at 4.63 an over https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bazball

The idea of "Bazball" as always attacking, frequently giving away wickets, making reckless decision; this is all in the words of pundits and armchair experts. It doesn't match what the team/management actually do or say.

It's more nuanced than that. It's not surprising the results have been better than the previous 19 years of English cricket. And it's been much more entertaining!

Good attacking batting by England this morning. They seem to think there's a ball coming that will get them out, so making runs while they survive.

India looked beaten by lunch and winners by tea.

Again! Neither side can get into a decisive position in this series.

Rain stops play.
That gives the bowlers a chance to rest, with the new ball in a few overs.
It’s going to be very close.
Woakes may have to bat!

I think it probably suited us to get off. Momentum was all with India and Smith looked all over the place. Runs had totally dried up.

Could be a different story tomorrow morning if he cracks a couple of boundaries off the first over.
