Matt Prior going for it, says England should break a few Aussie fingers 😂.
Have to say I raised an eyebrow at that. I'm sure they're thinking it but saying it live on TV was bold!

Oh well, inevitable.

A bit of needle at end with Archer and Smith although Smith got last word with a 6 to win it.

2-0 down. Doesn't look promising.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Aus have had a history of letting their foot off the gas a bit once a series is won. My memory is too fuddled to be precise but once it's a "dead rubber" (whatever that means) and the series is gone I do have memories of England sneaking wins.

Oh well. That's that then.

But unlike some, I just put it down to AUS being better than us, especially in their conditions.
They have started an enormous number of homes Ashes series by going 2-0 up.

I’m not really sure that Australian conditions have had a role yet. The first match was a bizarre one where both sides got spooked until England imploded and Head just coped better. This match was down to poor batting in the first innings 5-2 at the best time to be batting, then struggling under lights. Australia made the best of the daylight on days 2 and 3 and England were shocking in the field.

Having them at 65-2 makes me wonder what would have happened if England had held their catches. Towards the end of day 2 when they’d got the Aussies 6 down it felt like the lead may get restricted to a small number but the tail were allowed to score far too much.

326-8 at close. Pretty happy with that, I just hope we get the last two wickets quickly. It always irritated me when we fail to do that, and it seems to happen fairly regularly.

I’d say the Aussies are slightly ahead, runs on the board and all that, but two quick wickets and England have the chance to build a big innings. They need to put pressure back on them.

Yeah I think that's fair.

I was trying to explain Test cricket to a lad at work yesterday, well, cricket in general as he'd proclaimed that "England are terrible at it", which we're very much not.

Anyway I think he got his head around limited overs (after I'd told him what an over is) but ended up saying,

"I don't think I could get my head around a game that takes 5 days and might be a draw."

Which is fair enough. There is a mindset peculiar to the Test cricket fan I reckon. Which is probably why we're capable of rambling on about inconsequential nonsense a lot of the time.

The key tomorrow when we bat is concentration and patience. Its a pretty flat deck, see off the new ball, don't gift wickets and let the aussie bowlers suffer in the heat, cash in when the ball goes soft and treat Lyon with respect.

This team is capable of batting for best part of 2 days and building a winning lead. equally they are capable of subsiding to 260 all out in 50 overs!

Oh dear, it seems that technology has effected to outcome of this test.
Carey admits he was out on 72, having edged the ball.
Snicko failed to pick it up and consequently he gets a ton.

Yeah, a shame - but the silver lining is that there was no bias, and the Snicko has been weird in all 3 matches. It will become Just One Of Those Things by the end of the series - like occasional bad low bounces, or player injuries.

(But I blummin' hope they fix it by the next series! )

This curious lack of synchrony between image and graphic display with Snicko is new, isn't it? I don't recall it happening before this series.
