Archer out injured now. May as well bring the rest of them home. Very sadly the tour has been an unmitigated disaster.

Yes it has and it has unravelled very quickly. Without Wood and Archer the bowling looks totally unsuited to Australian conditions. Carse has done ok and I like Atkinson but probably not in Australia. Tongue, Potts and Fisher look like good English seamers, nothing more. The lack of a spinner is another major problem. But, the bowlers never really have had a chance with the batting fragility.

Sounds like the pitch is an absolute shocker for this one.

When I read the BBC headline and report they made it sound like England were getting hammered and glossed over the Aussies only getting 150. A 40 run deficit is a big proportion but not necessarily that bad, it just takes one batsman to get a score (see the first test).

10mm of grass on the pitch!
Imagine having flown out with day 4-5 tickets.

Not good for test cricket is it? The MCG is vast and rarely sells out after days 1 and 2 so hopefully nobody will be stuck with days 4 and 5 tickets. It’s just the whole experience is reduced for those wanting to see the cricket and something of the amazing country.

It's sound like excessive grass 10mm maybe the issue, in which case batting 4th maybe an advantage.

Groundsman reckons batting will get harder from here on!

Phew, it’s been a slog for the bowlers so far 😂

Seriously, why did they prepare a wicket like that especially when the series is won?

It is odd and somebody must have made a call to the groundsman. Maybe because Australia don’t have a spinner with Lyon injured and have Seamers who are better when it moves about. Of course the latter opens the door for Englands depleted attack. They were talking about the grass a couple of days ago so not a surprise but odd in the context of creating a spectacle.
