The ECB wanted longer tests, but end up with another 3 day thrashing and no weekend revenue.

The stadium would have been packed today.

I don't think you could blame England for throwing away wickets as happened in the Bazball era. They actually played test cricket quite well, I thought. Pakistan failed to get going.

Have to admit, I enjoy the bits in rain breaks when they play the current pundits (Nas, Tuffers and Atherton) watching highlights of matches they played. The one just now with the disastrous series against NZ in 1999 made for amusing viewing especially with Tufnell.

Given the overcast conditions, the stoppages to play, the excessive seam movement, swing, and uneven bounce, I'd say that a 50 today is worth a century in proper test conditions. England already have more than twice the runs Pakistan are capable of getting. But I guess not declaring has guaranteed more wickets for tomorrow's spectators.

In order the qualify the runner must be in full kit and holding the ball at all times. They must also play the full game afterwards.
It doesn’t say whether the umpire needs to ask whether they are going over or round the wicket at the start of the over.
