2km at 9% is a decent British climb, certainly not to be sniffed at.

Definitely not to be sniffed at, only climb I've done like that is the monster climb from near Prestatyn train station to Gwaenysgor. Segment data doesn't do it justice, it has 33% gradient signs near the car park at the top if heading down, on my sister's ~17Kg hybrid (because my road bike freehub had died) I had to meander the steep bit using the whole road width near sunset so I'd had plenty of warning of any cars heading down!

I doubt it in a TT - they're always looking for proper data for optimisation so I'd think they'd just go for it

Not much ITT in this year's TdF, is there? So it might not be as high a priority as some years and UAE got a bit surprised by others' kit choices.

it was more that it wasn't a steady 9%, it had varying pitches, some quite sharp, easing sections and flat / mini descent bits. very difficult for a "flat TT beast" to get into rhythm, hence Romeo losing yellow and the likes of Dunbar and Lipowitz doing good times. Maybe Pog overcooked his effort at the start of the climb or was maybe a rare off day, who knows.

Pog lost most of his time to Remco on the flat bit before the climb. He actually did the climb within a few seconds of Evenepoel and Vingegaard. Whether he was off it at the start, or sandbagging, or something else, I think that will be revealed on Friday's MTF

Now the dust has settled I don't really make much of Pogs TT shocker....fourth on the day is no big deal really, we're a while of the Tour and the bigger prize.
Remco was a different class in the TT,be good to see him in the mountains,Vingo and Visma looking like they're up for the fight ! What's not to look forward to 😁

Back to the race and I'll have a last throw of the dice on Healy...come on Ben show em you were just saving energy !
