Not happy, where the plastic stay sits with the rubber ties holding it in place has actually damaged paintwork on rear aluminium forks, and caused some paint wear on front carbon forks.Going to wait until the end of the month then sand down the affected area then prime, paint and seal. Hoping a mild rubbing compound will remove most of the marks from front forks. Will have to purchase a winter bike for next winter if finances dictate lol!

Think some of it is my own fault with sliding the guard to adjust rather than "lifting" it. hindsight is a wonderful thing...... Anyone else had similar problems ?

I usually protect paintwork for this kind of application, either tape or a piece of rubber innertube. For Cruds I used a thick puncture patch on the frame.

I was lazy this year and didn't tape the contact points of the cruds and have dulled the laquer on my carbon forks. My own fault.

It's caused paint damage, not frame damage. Change the thread title. Can be mitigated by using the above suggestions.

I had the same problem with sks raceblades on my nice bike, even with some inner tube between the contect points i have noticed the paint has some scratches on the seat stays, would "duct tape " do the job ?
