Is it just me, or does CS7 have the biggest concentration of numpty cyclists anywhere in London?

A good 20% of 'em seem entirely unfamiliar with the concept of a shoulder-check before changing course, and the same ones not only RLJ but nearly take out other cyclists while doing so.

Fortunately it's not a route I cycle very often, but I was amazed. Usually it's the motorised traffic you have to keep an eye on, but on that route I wasn't troubled by any drivers at all, only blind cyclists.

Oh yes, the C7! I walk my bike across the pedestrian crossing outside Kennington Tube every morning and marvel at the sheer weight and variety of cyclists zooming up and down. I'd say roughly 50% RLJ here (I, sadly, stood and counted this once ^_^). In fact, this morning 2 cyclists RLJ'd in front of an elderly woman and a man with a limp (and me) attempting to use the crossing.

Nice huh!

I was once shouted at by a cyclist coming the other way through the park near Limehouse basin because I was in his lane. Completely ignoring the fact that through that small park there is only one lane to share, and I was on the left of it

There's far too much RLJing goes on along there, but I'd say the Strava segments along Embankment (CS8) are the hardest fought. Racerboiz pushing past at lights, squeezing by moving cyclists with millimetres to spare (I've seen it attempted where there wasn't any space, which brought someone down  ), RLJing of course, hopping onto pavements to get by etc... It's just appalling.

There are a lot of very good cyclists on CS7, too, but they tend to get overshadowed by the minority of dickheads...

I think it's mainly due to it being such a direct route into town, coupled with the fact that it's turned into the first Superficial Highway. I for one used to use the A23 but swapped to use CS7 when it launched as it only added about a mile to my journey but I found it slightly more pleasant then heading via Brixton!
Yes there are numpties but I think that's just par for the course TBH, much like drivers the majority seem to be of average skill with a small number being at the upper and lower ends of the scale!
As for numbers I had a few comments on my dangerous LGV video that I posted earlier in the week commenting on the sheer number of riders at the lights, I'd suggest it was easily 20+ :-)

Lets not also forget though that the design of it also does encourage some potentially dangerous conflicts, not to excuse the idiot RLJers and genuinely bad riders, but when you have sections where it carries on straight along the main road with turning traffic coming into conflict with cyclists (looking at the area by Kennington Park here, it happens in both directions about 1/4 mile apart), that wonderful piece by Stockwell where you need to get to the middle of 3 lanes to follow the cycle lane and the infamous left hook magnet that is Rookery Road :-)

I've only cycled it a few times, and agree some of the junctions are poor, but no excuse for sudden swerves without shoulder-checks. If I cycled the route regularly, I'd be hitting up ebay for a light-sabre.
My personal experience says otherwise. However, I’m mainly through there before 8.30am, so it may be different outside the rush hour. At my time, there’ll be 25+ cyclists all stopped at the Kennington Tube reds with no one jumping. Having said that, traffic is too heavy to jump the lights anyway.
I usually reach there about 07.30 and as I say, it's up to half of the cyclists that RLJ. At this short point in my journey, I'm a ped not a cyclist so it's funny how perception differs.

I see an occasional RLJ at those lights. Many more round the Clapham area.

I pass through Kennington between 0800 and 0830 depending on how I'm doing (or how much I faffed before heading out the door).

Clapham High Street is always fun with plenty of peds, cyclists and motorists to look out for. Generally I don't find people any worse or better than anywhere else-- it just has a higher concentration of cyclists. Haven't witnessed or been part of any dodgy incidents here. Due care and all that. Saw a while ago Gaz had his brakes/reactions tested by a rogue van man pulling out from a side road- guess it's the cycling lottery. My number came up on Blackfriars Road Summer 2011

Quite enjoy the F1 grid-style ASLs along CS7. Can fly off if on the front and see whether anyone catches you, or if at the back you can bide your time before unleashing 'scalp-mania' when all's nice and clear.

I got a bit of stick from a cyclist when I warned her that she was travelling the wrong way on the contra-flow lane on Horseferry road.

Clapham High Street is a cakewalk compared to heading west through Balham towards Colliers Wood, even muppet pulling out of a side road seems to think that little blue lane is in fact an extension of their giveway line so you invariably have to duck out of the lane to avoid the nose of their car! Last night I even had a ped just stand in there in the cycle lane staring at me as I was bearing down on them at a fair rate of knots....
