I discovered a way of getting cars to give you a wide berth today. Someone gave me some flowers and so I had to cycle home with them sticking out of my back pack. They were rather large so I got a lot of looks and the cars gave me so much extra space.

Probably not the cheapest way of being notice but made for a surprisingly nice journey home. Escpecially when I heard some bloke ask his girlfriend if I had a parachute on my back?! I mean what???

They were probably expecting your bike to fall to peices and you to spray them with a jet of water.

I've often thought.."oh I'll get some of them for the missus" - we've a very good flower shop near work, but they'd never survive the ride........ the petals would be blown off........... damn...need to ride at a sensible pace......xx(

If you want something cheaper, tether a helium filled birthday balloon to the back of your bike. Worked wonders when I cycled to my dads birthday do.

They would survive the ride, granted I only went up to 16mph and it was only a 5 mile ride but it was blowy.

Cycling is no excuse to forget romance!

Yes they seemed to give the guy who was carrying a suitcase (one of those small ones with the long handle) on his handle bars a wide birth too - but then so did I.....

In Marrakesh last December I spied a bike with a guy on the back holding onto a plate glass window. Amazing feat and scared me rigid. Nobody gave them any extra room. Maybe he should have applied a little windowlene first?

Lol! Have you ever been to Bangkok? There they cycle the wrong way up the hard shoulder of the motorway - and nobody seems to care very much!
