To negate the fireworks effect put a (brown ?) paper bag over the metal cap.
(Used to do that with Greggs pies when at work, if you can't see the foil tray then you are safe)
It is being a bit of a Philistine buying screw top wine though isn't it ?
But must admit, maybe safer after a few too many sherbets.
Lost count of the number of times I've stuck the corkscrew into my right hand rather than the cork !!

I once put a warmish can of beer in the freezer to cool it fast. Sadly I forgot about it, but when I took it out the next day it resembled the shape of a beer keg !!bonj said:
