So I've noticed a curious thing in the last couple of days and wondered whether it was my commute or usual:
I've slid passed cars in traffic jams/at lights and I've sped though the cycle gap on priority chicanes and the result has been a driver overtaking me later on then either slowing right down so I lose all momentum or cutting out any gaps either pavement side/cycle path or outside.

really strange as it takes up their time more than mine...

Fairly standard behaviour. They see a bike in the mirror and then move to block it either by moving to the kerb or moving to the centre line. It doesn't seem to register that by doing so they open the gap on the other side and it's just a a matter of anticipation. I usually just give a shake of my head once I'm passed to indicate that I think they are stupid.

I find more often than not, when filtering in slow moving traffic, drivers move over to give me more space. I must be lucky!
I have to confess that most probably do on my commute but it seems that 6 or 7 cars and a bus moving to one side to get out of my way is ruined by the one kerbhead who moves the other way purely to be a t***. If you ever challenge them they look at you innocently and say "I thought you'd appreciate the gap next to the kerb" as you'd been happily doing 15mph down the centre line.

I don't commute, but when filtering more often find cars edging over to give me more room than i do blocking me, which is in fact very rare

Not saying every driver but some do.

Last week, there was also one very psychotic 407 bus driver who liked cutting me down when I was ahead of him, so much so, at one point I dived onto the pavement. All it would have taking is me ditching  yeesh. But most of the time all's fine - even got a thumbs up from an artic on Friday!

Some seem to think that 2-wheels is cheating - and they move to block motorbikes and cyclists.

Their attitude seems to be "Stop filtering, Stay in your place in the queue ! "

The majority though happily move over and/or leave a gap, thankfully.

I actually prefer the one you get putting “Aquaskipper Hydrofoil Human Powered Watercraft” into youtube, but everytime I embed the link, it duplicates the one above.....

Did you report him to the bus company?

Hi Vickster
Didn't think about that to be honest. Was used to general dickish behaviour so was surprised by that much aggression and relieved to get out of his way.

BTW, when did buses start either putting the hazards on or signalling right when pulled over to take on passengers? Three different buses in as many trips have done this.
