On a related note - a couple more observations
1) Are drivers really happy to achieve a bike length by overtaking me to join the Q at a red light? Happened twice today, only for me to glide past ^_^
2) when did Audi drivers take over from BMW as arses of the asphalt?

I believe Top Gear identified the phenomenon around their fifth season back on the air.

I was over taken the other day while on a 30mph decent. I was travelling in primary at pace of the traffic when some idiot in an estate decides to try get ahead only for him to slam on the brakes as he pulled in front as there was no room in front of me for the overtake in the first place. Driver's eyes were fixed firmly forward as to not see the hand gesture I gave him as I inevitably passed 5 seconds later again. AirZound has since been ordered so I can vent my frustration in a way these idiots understand.

Funny how drivers think they can behave like this, but can't bare to look us in the eye to acknowledge our presence...

I've come across this as well, a driver has cocked up and just sits there looking straight ahead wont even look at you, if I catch up with them at the next set of lights I like to sit behind them looking into their interior mirror, tends to make them very uncomfortable.

I don't know if it's a hang over from my motorbike days but this is the bit of behaviour that makes me crossest. I can cope with a driver doing just about any stupid unthinking thing, providing they give some kind of acknowledgement afterwards, even the "wot, I did nuffin', pay some road tax" brigade annoy me less than the stare forwards as if nothing happened, just think of that nice glass of Merlot waiting at home bastards. I'm more controlled now. But when I wasn't I would happily catch up at the next lights (again pretty much a cert on a motorbike. Particularly if it's more important to you than the direction you were intending to go or, you know, anything) bang on their window and ask "can you see me now? Can you see me now?") they would then tend to finally acknowledge my existence, or I wouldn't shut up generally., and I'd probably give them a simple "look next time" and ride off.

But I don't do that anymore, I don't even kick cars now, I'm all reformed.

I'd prefer it if the person who left hooked me (I just rode out the front of it, buckled wheel, smashed pedal swollen knee) was scared in to driving off rather than the idea that they were so busy playing Angry Birds on their iPhone that they had no clue they'd smeared me around their front bumper while I was minding my own business on a segregated cycle lane.

I had a driver tell me to hurry up, then called me a horrible name (not a word I'll ever repeat), but he must have had to slow down to say it, ironically. Some people just have no sense ( or decency).
I'll probably see him again at some point, I've seen his car on my route since.
