Yep, well I am wierd. No, seriously - I have seen a few of those (Dark Star is just fantastic), but generally I will steer clear of military films. I don't like the glorification of war, not that I think you guys do, but I just steer clear of bombs and war films. Also, like I say, I don't get to watch TV at home, so I don't really watch films at home at all. Just at work sometimes.

Dr Strangelove doesn't glorify war, it was a Political Satire on the sheer stupidity and absurdity of Nuclear War and how one madman with just enough power could mess everything up just because he thought the Russians were adding Flouride to America's drinking water! (Yes, you read that right). He then commits suicide and leaves everyone in the sh*t.

It really is worth a watch for the quotes if nothing else ('Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room!', etc etc).

Even the opening theme music should tell you everything you need to know - Here are the most deadly weapons in history being played to little more than lift musak. Oh and the President of the U.S. is a President Merkin Muffley.

Starring Peter Sellers who played various roles including the President, it was directed by Stanley Kuberick which should say a lot.

There were also amusing and absurd things like this :

And I haven't even got to The War Room yet either.....

Yes, I get that now, but I generally just avoid films that have anything to do with war/feature bombing/killing brown people. Its not you, its me.

An avatar that combines my two favourite things - Carol Vorderman and vintage nuclear weapons. Thank you ever so much my friend.
Vintage nuclear weapons are about the only things she doesn't do adverts for.

I must admit, now the Diglets are older and (possibly less cute and more stroppy and sullen) I do occasionally think of changing my avatar. Trouble is, if I use my own image, I'm not getting any younger either
