a cycling colleague of mine was the near victim of some stupidly close overtaking today. he got to work only to find that the culprit works here

any advice on the way to approach the subject with the person concerned? they are unlikely to be a boss as they were driving a ford escort.

Your friend should go have a word and ask the offender is he or she was aware of what they did and how their actions made them feel.

That's a tough one. With my placid nature, I think I would let it go, unless it was particularly worthy of complaining about. Even then, I'd try and keep it sweet, not lecture to them etc.
Imagine having to pass them in the corridor at work every day after having told them off?

Others will disagree, no doubt.

Sorry, I didn't read that last bit. Yeah, Catch them alone and beat them with a metal pipe!

Point it out to the offender, calmly and quietly. Treat it as a polite request to pay a little more attention in future.

If this has no effect, catch them alone and beat them with a metal pipe.

Times have changed, Tynan, lead is a precious commodity now and worth cash...

Baseball bats, however, are relatively cheap and easy to obtain.

Irrespective of whether they where a boss or not I would go and have a word with them and point out that if they drive that close again I would personally cut of their nads with a blunt knife and make them sit in a vat of salt.

Find out which office he's working and wait until it's full of people and then tell him in no uncertain terms to take more care. If that fails the pipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A nice and humble explanation of why his driving wasn't acceptable is most likely to work, IMO. There is always the risk that he will take it badly and have a strop, in which case I would point out that if he does it again, he'll be on video on youtube and complaint will be made to the company.

This happened to me a couple of years ago with a colleague (an escort as well)

I was on my way to work and as I approached a pinch point, he cut in on me.

I was fkin livid and collared him as soon as I got to work, to which he apologised profusely and said it didn't even register that he had done it.

He was banned for Drink driving about a year ago (chronic alcoholic), and has since been commuting in on a Thompson electric cycle
