Cycling Weekly have a 'Commuting Special'.

I quickly scanned it in WH Smith and it made me chuckle.

They tell the commute cyclist how much to eat for an 8 mile commute.

An 8 mile commute, nutrition, don't make me laugh,,,:laugh:

If a commute cyclist needs extra nutrition for an 8 mile commute, they must be a 'big fat greedy pig'.

A couple of Extra Strong mints perhaps.

And no mention of sausages, eggs and black pudding.

LOL !
you forgot the bacon and fried bread

But surely on an expedition of 8 miles you need at least a couple of gel bars and an isotonic drink, and this is for one way....

When I started commuting I managed quite well on a cup of tea and a cigarette

I have substituted the cigarette for porridge now.

Me too, but it's all part of my master plan. I anticipated back in my 20s that I would take up cycling seriously in my 40s, and have diligently spent the last 20 years accumulating a generous supply of lard for the road ahead.

By my calculations, I now have enough on-board energy to cycle from Glasgow to London and back 5 times on one small glass of water. I start Monday.

I heard of someone this week, who drives to the park and ride from 30 miles away, changes into full lycra and then rides into the centre of town to work. About 3 miles.

Maybe he's the sort that needs nutrition advice....

You lot can sneer at the nutritional needs of normal people: I for one feel it's absolutely essential to have a cup of tea before setting out on a bicycle journey of any length, and a cup of tea at the other end is just as important.
(Been known to take my thermos-mug to the supermarket. ;))
