If you lock your bike by it's wheels to the D bars on the space pods wherever they are, presumably someone with a Transit or box van could nick the bikes just leaving the easy to replace wheels locked in place.... that's ridiculous.

rubbish. there is no easy way to lock your frame with standard sized locks.
We have similar at work, at they are a pain to use and a load of crap.

Sheffield stands are bad enough as I tend to take up 2-4 spaces with my trike-trailer combo.

So I'd like to try one of these with my rig.
If I could push the trike up the slope then it would take up at least 3 spaces.
But I can see the fairing/chainring grounding at the front before it even halfway up.
Then if I ever did get it up on the rack the trailer would block most of the space between the racks.

The "FUN" of having to ride something non-standard ......

I think one of the many drawbacks of this system is that it cuts lines of sight. The more oversight you have, the more secure the bikes will be.

Looking at the space requirements the racks don't seem to be any kind of improvement on Sheffield stands at 750mm centres (that's 375mm a bike) and, if one does the sensible thing and buys Sheffield stands in a toastrack, they can be installed very quickly.

I've just had another thought. Look at the planning permission. You can find this through the local authority website which will direct you to the planning portal. The 100 bike spaces may be shown on the planning drawings. If so........go for the jugular!
