Was something on the forum a few weeks go about these.
Seems some councils are putting these at pinch points for drivers to be aware of cyclists in the absence of, or road too narrow for, a Cycle lane.
A good idea but bot advertised very well methinks, however, there are a few places I would like Newcastle council to put these...

Do you cycle in Newcastle city centre Tony? Have you seen that pinch point they've put in just past the mini-roundabout on Percy St? Accident waiting to happen.

There are loads of those in London. They are not cycle paths rather then showing a route for cyclists are they not?
Indeed. I'd call that the complete opposite of a fail, I'd say that shows exactly where a rider should be positioned when approaching parked cars. I'm quite surprised that gaz posted that without comment.

Yup, but thankfully not too often, usual council madness.
Other ancient one that I was looking at is Hadricks mill going round and under the Metro bridge.
Notorious and really bad both ways for cyclists.

Started reading The Metro again recently as you can't read newspapers on a smartphone on the underground. Forgot how bloody awful it was. I'd expect better standards of journalism from the Socialist Worker or a BNP newsletter.

You can't read newspapers on a smartphone on the underground? I thought the point of newsstand was to download them and read them locally? Can't say I read newspapers much anyway, apart from the odd article shown online.

I have no idea what you are talking about but I think what you are saying is that I need a better smartphone than my crappy Nokia.
I think he's saying that you should buy a newspaper.

However, even a crappy Nokia can cache pages for you to read later.
