I cycle south on Whitley Lane most days (black helmet, ginger hair, blue ribble bike, big arse) but the proposed new road will be a fair bit east of that, so no worries there.

There is even a Strava segment for you on it  Here although my speed is now eclipsed by a GB rider :cursing:

^_^ Was wondering about STRAVA. Is that North or South?

That Joe Skipper gets about too. Sounds like a made up name - euphanism for a gay perhaps.

The link is going North which is the only one I have put any effort in, there is also one going South and one South and back North again.

Joe Skipper is a semi pro cyclist and elite triathlete. He is bloomin fast up hills.......

Who feels like setting up a bit of draughting on that section, I'm game for a laugh to see what's possible. Manchester's head wind blows west in the morning and east in the evenings atm.

Must admit im being put off with cycle lanes for the fact I am told, cyclists have to use them and their "road tax" pays for them.

Lots of minus points as you guys/dolls say and too near the door zone.(or lead to traps)

Unfortunately cycle lanes seem to be to keep bikes off the highway, so as not to impede the flow of vehicles, and not designed to provide a safe and uninterupted route for cyclists

I got told today that the driver who messed with me last night was in his right to as cyclists don't keep to their own lane, that cyclists have a death wish being in front of her car, taking up the whole lane causing her to brake. I was :|

I think with a bit of a chain gang going we could easily get to second place. I am 6th on a solo run atm, but I don't think a KOM would be possible. We would need to beat a junior world champion on tt practice, 34.3  on the Northbound section is awesome.

Might cycle down it tomorrow-will be going out early sat morning. Feel free to join me. No idea where or how far I am going yet, plus it will be my 14th straight day in the saddle too.

The 3 cycle paths i use are shared, but i give a quick tinkle on the bell or a quick shout of coming through and people move no problem. They also have perfectly smooth tarmac surfaces. only last week i reported some broken glass on them and the next day the road sweeper was sent up there and cleaned it all up nicely.......i can now do a 35mile loop, with only doing 1.5miles on the road. It's GREAT

Might have a pass out tomorrow am early. Probably wouldn't want to be going much over 40 miles as I have the Great Manchester Cycle thing Monday.
