Considering I ride mostly on the road, and about 2 mins of my normal commute is on a cycle path, I seem to have had infinately more incedents whilst travveling by cycle path.

1 - little kid jumps out infront of me, I'm a good 20-30m back and start slowing down waiting for him to get out the way - I end up stopping 2m infront of him as he refuses to move, and I refuse to ride through the mud on my "roadie". His mother then tells me that I "really should be riding on the road.... I then point out that A. the cycle path I'm riding on is fed by a disused road, B, that it is a cycle path, and C, If that kid had done the same for a car, would she tell the car driver "you really should be walking, not driving that deathtrap for my [let's face it, genetically doomed] son"

2, dog, sees cyclist, thinks, OOOOO shiney shiney, chases after me and starts trying to bite the back wheel..... I then Lock the back wheel to stop the dog from getting "sucked in".....
owner tells me I really should be riding on the road eetc etc .... I then ask if they would like to pay for the tyre that I am wearing through to stop me from de-faceing their dog...

num 2 has happened twice now, both on exactly the same stretch of road/path...

3. Riding along, kid shouts bang just as I pass - Obviously I dont fall off, but I do yell PISS OFF!!!! at them... then the mother then gets all uppety with me, and I restrain myself from giving her, and her soon-to-unwanted-be daughter a loud shouting at (just been downing cups of coffee at work, so i'm feeling jittery and generally unhappy)

anyone else had any similar experiences? can anyone think of suitable put downs that are more eloquent than mine?

Plenty. The highway code is quite explicit about guidance for dogs.

For 2

Dogs. Do not let a dog out on the road on its own. Keep it on a short lead when walking on the pavement, road or path shared with cyclists or horse riders.

Looking at the control the parents had over this child, the short lead rule should probably apply to kids as well...

Just ignore 3, they are idiots. As for (1) tell them that that is what the blue signs are and physically point them out.

Wait till you get pulled over by the coppers for cycling on a cycle path or contraflow cycle lane .

Does using a toucan crossing count?

If so been there, done that, explained to policeman what a two can crossing is for. For good measure, politely pointed out the lit up green bike next to the lit up green man.
