I park my bike in a cycle rack when it's in the garage, you know, the sort you slide your rear wheel into outside shops and things. The thought has occurred to me, is there any danger of buckling the wheel when stored like that?

If you are careful, then I doubt it...but if the bike falls over or gets knocked, probably.

How large is the rack and how much wheel fits into it? IMO, it's unlikely if you are careful, but it is possible.

Think its all down to the rack location.

Outside a shop - inevitable
In your garage - you should be ok unless you, or someone else in your household, is clumsily getting another bottle of wine from the rack behind it. (That of course will depend on your own drinking habits)
