cycle racks

there is cycle racks at work but i tend to take my bike in and try to get it under cover or at least get some shelter from he rain. i'm now thinking of leaving the bike out in the rack but dont want the light and computer getting blasted so the question is do any of you use a bike cover and are they any good, the site i work at is very exposed and very windy.

Why not just take the computer and light with you into work and put somewhere safe?

it's getting more dificult to take on site but will probably keep doing so as long as i can get away with it

I always take my GPS and Hope light off the bike and bring them into my office. My line manager had his cheapo lights nicked last year and that's despite our bikes being guarded by armed police (I kid you not, the other week I had a guy with a machine gun on a shoulder strap helping me fix a puncture!!). Tealeaves will have anything they can get their mitts on

I leave mine in the rack but remove equipment from it. Work don't like us bringing them inside, but plenty of people do with their expensive bikes, generating the occasional arsey email from admin staff quoting health and safety!

I've never brought mine in, except once... when the riots were kicking off, I didn't fancy leaving it outside in the station car park in case the station was attacked... so I brought it in and locked it in our taser armoury!

Mine stays outside in the cycle rack,,i just remove the lights and computer and put them in my locker.

Can you shout for a hard cover over the racks? Just a polycarb roof on a wooden frame would do the job.
