Hi guys, I have recently started using my bike a lot more and was just wondering if there were any sites that you use like google maps that will plot out a route or you but using cycle lanes and routes etc.

Thanks guys

I use www.bikely.com but there are plenty of them.

viamichelin.com has the option to say you're cycling and set your route, it's probably the closest to what theaa and rac do for drivers.

i just use something like multimap, decide where i want to go and put in "walking" instead of by car, and then it keeps you off the motorways

if you're feeling flush, you could always get a garmin. i think its the 705 model that acts like a sat nav.

If you want to pick destinations and just let it rip, then viamichelin.com is pretty good.

However, if you want to plan a specific training route, or find out how far a particular route was when you get home, then bikeroutetoaster.com is the best I think

What I find really annoying is that none of these websites (as far as I can detemine) cope with tunnels and bridges. I did a route today that went over the Erskine Bridge (a fairly high bridge that is designed to allow oil rigs to float under it) and the Clyde tunnel (which drops a fair distance below the Clyde river) and the elevation measurements only track the height of the land below the bridge or above the tunnel. It makes my ride look easier . Is their a tool that takes this into account? I fear not.
