Hi folks. I've been browsing in the background up until now, picking up some well needed tips. I bought a saracen urban myth hybrid a couple of months ago and can't believe how much I've loved being out on it. I'm now looking to buy a mountain bike through cycle to work scheme with budget of around 500 including bodyguards. I've had poor experience with halfords so want to deal with my local shop (that's where I bought my saracen). They stock saracen, genesis and ridgeback. I'm 5 feet tall and plan to use in fields, forestry track and some relatively easy trails. Any opinions and comments would be greatly appreciated.

But you can do all that stuff on your hybrid.

I had wondered whether my hybrid could take on some off road riding if I put chunkier tyres on but then there's a trade off with rolling resistance on the cycle path. I'd like to be able to just grab the most suitable bike from the garage depending on what I feel like doing rather than faffing around changing tyres.my works cycle to work scheme is only open for 2 weeks so I'd better make my mind up pretty quickly!

You cycle to work across trails and forests?

If s, why not just look at Saracen MTBs if the hybrid isn't suitable

My employees scheme was due to open in June so I went along to lbs just to take a look but the shiny newness was just too much for me to wait for so I bought the hybrid. I can use that or a mountain bike to commute as I can either cycle down a bumpy farm track and across a field or stick to tarmacced path. I'm looking at saracen mantra or kili and plan to test ride at the weekend
