I'm going to start cycle vlogging on commutes and also some recreational rides.
Aim to get the first one done next week.
Is there anything people want to see covered or talked about?(i will make sure to research my stuff before talking )
Some idea's would be great.
So yer thats that.
Not many people do it and i can see why but thought i would make something of it.
Done on motorbikes so why not pedal bikes.

Edit....OK, now I know a vlog is a video blog, the things I learn on CC:smile:, I can't begin to imagine what you might vlog about, so put me down as a 'maybe' .

I personally watch vlogs for the person, the voice, the area etc.. rather than the topic...

Would vlogging work on a bicycle? Panting might be an issue.

I have attempted to do one of these whilst I was in the countryside (my Contour didnt pick up much sound). I kept panting up the hills but I just developed that into the video (joking about it).

I would love to vlog and if I had an external mic for my contour, I would probably do it.

Things to talk about:
  • You area and what is good about it
  • What bike to choose for a beginner
  • Funny stuff that happens in your life
  • Things in the news which are of interest to anyone
  • Things you see when out
  • Things to do in your area
  • What is happening, cycle related, in your area.
Just some starters.

I did one of these a few weeks back.

Two parts to it, me riding at normal pace. Struggling to talk for the first 11 minutes. Me riding with other half after that, talking better. Originally was only going to have the boring first half, the the second half with the Mrs was more entertaining so left all that in.

Might have to slow down to do it well. I stuck subtitles on everything cuz my voice was too low IMO. I'm tempted to do another moaning about some stuff, but I'll probably move the Contour to the side of my helmet to see if that picks up my voice better. Otherwise I might get a headset and record a separate audio track.

I know there is a change in voice but i did it on two different days and the way i talked changed.

I just tested having the Contour mounted on the side of my helmet today (way more weird looks from people having it that way).

Voice *might* be a bit better. But I'm still going to have to talk loudly, and do it on quiet roads, and go slow.

May be easier to just record audio over the top like Dan's done. Buuuut, as a long time motorcycle vlog watcher, I think its much better recorded at the same time. You get so much more out of it, people stop talking, or talk slow when they're concentrating on the road, and you get extra comments you don't get otherwise.

yer. Tried it but the contour acts weird when wind goes into the mix. it kinda reduces what it picks up. Also there is no place for a external mic so argh. I quess i could use something else and record my voice with that and sync it

I got out an old phone headset, and tested recording that with it strapped to my helmet just next to my chin. Voice was way thin on that, put some foam around it to help stop wind noise and I become almost inaudible. Might just have to get a full face helmet and hide the mic in there. :-/
