I wouldn't be too sure of that. I'm Network Manager at a group of schools and though we try to block proxy sites the pupils are exceedingly good at finding new ones that our systems don't block. Besides, there's no configuring of IE involved, it's just a web site that then allows you to hop off somewhere else without appearing to go there.

True although those normally require some kind of subscription unless they know of a dodgy account.

You can of course configure proxy use within your browser if you wish.

You could also try using Google's Public DNS in your browser settings (I've only tried this in IE so can't vouch for any other browser).

Note: This is posted in the interest of assisting CC'ers to access the site only when on a legitimate break from work!

At the office today, tried the cycle-cafe bit and all was well... until I hit 'New Posts' and then I was... DENIED.

Nope there are hundreds of free ones! I work at a secondary school in Bristol as IT Manager and its a constant battle to block free PHP proxies! The kids will do anything to play games, go on bebo/myspace/facebook etc

Oh No sorry Fab I thought that might have been the case.

Its funny you mention this as when I was at college thats exactly what we used to do . do you remember a trojan called sub 7 ?? we used to have so much fun with that....they were the days !.

I work for Local Government in Newham as a principle systems analysts and fortunately the schools as you well know manage their own IT as that would be a challenge if its anything like I remember during my time at school and college.

Mind you most MCT's ive come across are just as bad as the kids at school and college in distributing dodgy software.
