And the bit about reporting any dings and damage to the Dibble - utterly pointless without photographic evidence.

Without puictures of such damage, or a note of the frame number, even if the dibble find the bike its Johnny Scumbag's word against yours, and that isn't enough to meet the threshold for either prosecution or for cofiscating the bike and retruning it. Her says its his, you say it's yours - they can't adjudicate without evidence.

Eveything of value you own should be thoroughly photographed and serial numbers noted.
